What Are Gold Polishing Methods?


Gold polishing can be performed by applying the necessary materials to gold jewelry at regular intervals.


              Gold Polishing with Carbonate and Vinegar Water


Mix 2 tablespoons of vinegar, some water and 2 tablespoons of baking soda in a bowl. The toothbrush is dipped in this mixture and the gold jewelry is gently rubbed. The jewelry is rinsed with lukewarm water and dried with a cloth.


            Gold Polishing with Toothpaste


The toothpaste method is often used to polish gold jewelry. A small amount of toothpaste is squeezed into a soft-bristled toothbrush. Then, with the help of a toothbrush, gold jewelry is brushed. After rinsing with warm water and drying with a cloth, the polishing process is completed.


            Gold Polishing with Ammonia


Ammonia is a very effective method of gold polishing. A small amount of ammonia is mixed with water. Gold jewelry is kept in the container with this mixture for 2-3 minutes. After the time is up, the jewelry is rinsed with warm water and dried with a cloth.


            Gold Polishing with Dishwashing Liquid


Warm water and a few drops of dish soap are mixed in a bowl. Gold jewellery is placed in this container and waited for at least 15 minutes. The jewelry is then rubbed with a soft-bristled toothbrush, rinsed with warm water and dried with a cloth.


            Gold Polishing with Salt


Salt, aluminum foil, a container and water are needed to apply the salt and gold polishing method. First of all, the inside of a container is wrapped with aluminum foil. Then water and two tablespoons of salt are added to this bowl. Jewelry is placed in the bowl, and the bowl is placed on the stove. When the water reaches the boiling level, it has waited for 4-5 minutes and the bottom of the stove is turned off. The jewelry is rinsed with warm water and dried with a cloth.


            Golden Polishing with Lemon


The acidic nature of lemon is very effective in brightening gold jewelry. Mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, a tablespoon of salt and water in a bowl. Gold jewelry is put in this mixture. After waiting 30 minutes, rinse with warm water and dry with a cloth.


            Golden Polishing with White Soap


In this method, the brightening effect of white soap is combined with the power of ammonia. Grated white soap is thrown into one liter of water. A cup of ammonia is added to this mixture and the jewelry is kept in this mixture for about 30 minutes. Then the jewelry is rinsed with warm water and dried with a cloth.


What Should Be Considered When Polishing Gold?


The most important thing to consider when applying the above-mentioned gold polishing methods is to use the correct measurements. Because not using the measurements correctly may cause damage to gold jewelery or color changes. It is also very important that the toothbrush used in many methods has soft bristles. Hard brushes can damage gold jewelery.
